Is your school growing? Whether you are delivering forest school lessons, needing a dedicated library area, or investing in extra space to accommodate special needs policies, social distancing or other flexibility needs within your educational setting, we can design and deliver that much-needed space to suit your requirements. Whatever your needs, our outdoor standalone buildings are ideal as a classroom or additional outdoor space, and they can be designed completely to your bespoke needs.
You’ll want a learning space that is durable all year round, which is why we use energy-efficient structurally insulated panels (SIPs) for the walls, floor and roof. We even use ‘mini’ SIPs for the splines between the panels to fully insulate your classroom and prevent ‘cold bridging’ areas. Not only are SIPs panels great for the environment, but they’re lightweight and strong making it a quicker, easier and versatile option for our buildings. We understand the complexity of building on a school site which is why choosing a SIPs modular building delivers, not only on budget but within tight timescales too. The panels offer a low U rating which in turn means that your building is cosy in the winter and cool in the summer.
Our preferred method of foundation system is galvanised steel pile foundations to a depth of 1200mm overwrapped with a DPC layer and then laser levelled to ensure a completely flat platform to build up from. Ground screws prevent any mess or damage to the site and surrounding area and also allow for sloping or uneven plots to be built on. However, if the ground conditions aren’t ideal then longer piles may be needed at an additional cost. The unpredictable weather forecast is also not a factor, as ground screws can be installed at any time of the year, even in rain or frost.
We know that these foundations may not suit all school site requirements, which is why we also provide alternatives such as a concrete base or jack pads. To decide on the best system for your classroom, our team will visit the site and conduct a free site survey.
If you’re an education specialist in need of extra classroom space, then please contact us. Our team will provide a stress-free experience throughout the process, working with your local authority or academy site teams and keeping you updated at every stage, from initial design and ideas to the final delivery and construction so you can still use your time to continue teaching.
